Charitable Donation
Apart from health promotion and knowledge transfer, Pfizer is committed to helping the needy via employee’s donations and company’s matching fund. Employee’s donations are generated by the workplace “coffee fund” to aid the needy patients of catastrophes. In addition, we offered immediate financial aid to the victims of global disasters. In 2008, Pfizer colleagues made contributions using the company’s matching fund to aid the victims of the Sichuan earthquake. In 2005, for tsunami relief, Pfizer Hong Kong colleagues donated money to aid in the tsunami relief efforts. During the SARS outbreak, Pfizer Hong Kong mobilized its international network and sourced approximately 500,000 N95 surgical masks and donated them to doctors, nurses, pharmacists and news reporters to prevent the contraction and spread of SARS. Additionally, the Pfizer Foundation donated money to support the Hong Kong Hospital Authority post-SARS cleaning hands campaign as part of the public health campaign to prevent further outbreaks of SARS.
