Safety Profile1,2 top
CI:
  • Olmetec Hypersensitivity to olmesartan medoxomil or any of the other excipients of Olmetec. Biliary obstruction. 2nd and 3rd trimesters of pregnancy, lactation.
  • Olmetec Plus Pregnancy. Hypersensitivity to any component of Olmetec Plus. Because of the hydrochlorothiazide component, this product is contraindicated in patients with anuria or hypersensitivity to other sulfonamide-derived drugs.
   
SP:
  • Olmetec Intravascular volume depletion. Bilateral renal artery stenosis or stenosis of the artery to a single functioning kidney. Renal and hepatic impairment. Hyperkalaemia especially in renal impairment and/or heart failure. Aortic or mitral valve stenosis, or obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. Primary aldosteronism, excessive decrease in blood pressure in patients with ischaemic heart disease or ischaemic cerebrovascular disease, combination of lithium, other conditions with stimulation of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system.
  • Olmetec Plus Patients with volume or salt depletion, history of allergy or bronchial asthma. Renal/hepatic impairment. Children, elderly. Lactation.
   
AR: Dizziness, bronchitis, cough, pharyngitis, rhinitis, abdominal pain, diarrhoea, dyspepsia, gastroenteritis, nausea, back, joint, skeletal and chest pain, fatigue, influenza-like symptoms, peripheral oedema, haematuria, urinary tract infection, increased creatine phosphokinase, hypertriglyceridaemia, hyperuricaemia, liver enzyme elevations.
   
DI:
  • Olmetec Lithium, other antihypertensives, antacids, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). Concomitant use of potassium (K)-sparing diuretics, K supplements, salt substitutes containing K.
  • Olmetec Plus Alcohol, barbiturates, narcotics, antidiabetic drugs, other antihypertensives, cholestyramine and colestipol resins, corticosteroids, adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH), pressor amines, eg, norepinephrine, nondepolarizing skeletal muscle relaxants, eg, tubocurarine, lithium, NSAIDs.

Dosages1,2 top
Olmetec 20 mg once daily. May be increased to max 40 mg daily or add hydrochlorothiazide therapy. Olmetec Plus 1 tab once daily.
